Description
Handmade sewing needles of iron or bronze, 3-6 cm long. Made according to finds. Iron sewing needles are harder and keep their shape better than bronze needles, but must be kept dry to prevent rust. Bronze needles are softer and may bend, but don’t rust.
That people in the Viking age used fine metal sewing needles is obvious based on the fine sewing that still remains, but there are also some finds of fine metal needles that are so well kept that their original shape can be identified. This type is one of several.
